HoYovers announced Honkai Star Rail 2.7 release date in the RPG’s latest livestream and teased what’s to come, including the Penacona finale and a modern home decorating mode. There’s also the usual set of modern character banners, as well as a few smaller events – another photo expedition on March 7 and a chance to get a free 5-star character of your choice from the general banner.

Honkai Star Rail 2.7 release date
Honkai Star Rail 2.7 will launch on December 4, 2024, or, if you’re in the US, behind schedule on December 3, 2024, after the usual round of maintenance the night before (or evening). It lasts six weeks, sees a modern set of character banners appear halfway through, and gives way to Honkai Star Rail 3.0 in January 2025.
History of Honkai Star Rail 2.7
With the planet Amphoreus just above the horizon, HSR 2.7 wraps up Penacona’s loose plot threads. Sunday descends from the heavens as a mortal and searches for a way to create his utopia without relying on otherworldly powers, while the Pioneer is reunited with Tingyun – only he’s not really Tingyun anymore. After Phantylia stole Tingyun’s body, identity, and memories, Ruan Mei saved what was left of Foxiana, resulting in the creation of a being that calls itself Fuga. HoYoverse said that Fugue’s quest to regain his former self is the second major part of HSR 2.7.

Honkai Star Rail 2.7 Events
The highlight of 2.7 is Trailblazer finally getting a room after spending over a year wandering the halls of a train and, I guess, sleeping on the floor? I’m sure AO3 has answers to this question, but anyway. During the Cosmic Home Decor event, you clear out your storage room and transform it with furniture, accessories and anything else you can find to suit your tastes.
The Cosmic Home Decor event coincides with Express receiving a modern party car. Here, passengers can kick back and relax in the elegant lounge and bar, which is probably a lot more enjoyable than traveling around the galaxy and standing awkwardly at the reception desk like they did before.
Then there is the Between the Frames event, during which you and March 7 support Mr. Reka prepare a photography exhibition.
HoYoverse also announced a long-awaited feature in HSR 3.0 – relic rerolling. This is even more convenient than Genshin Impact’s customization feature. You can exploit Wishful Resin to set specific sub-stats when creating a personalized Relic, AND you can roll Real Dice for a chance at a re-roll, the stat of which randomly increases as the Relic level increases.
Honkai Star Rail 2.7 Free 5 Star Character
From the beginning of HSR 2.7 to the end of HSR 3.2, you can talk to Pom-Pom to receive the “Gift of the Trailblazer”, a one-time coupon that you can exploit to select any 5-star character from the regular banner. These are:
These people may have existed from the beginning, but Bronya remains one of the best sidekicks in the game, while Clara and Himeko are excellent choices for both Pure Fiction and Memory of Chaos. Just don’t go to Bailu. Her revival seems useful, although she is outclassed by all other healers at this point. Yanqing is also definitely Bad, as the enemy’s attack ruins his setup and reduces the amount of damage he can deal until you set him up again.
