Rockbeasts is a band management simulator that brings back the MTV era – with bassists Fish and Iggy Pop

Sometimes you need to immediately talk about the game trailer you saw. This is one of those moments. During the Galaxies Steam Fest show, Team17 made a brand novel announcement and revealed a trailer for Rockbeasts, a band management simulator that aims to bring the spirit of Bojack Horseman and Adult Swim to the world of MTV-era music management. It looks absolutely brilliant, so take a look at it first.

The first thing we obviously need to talk about is the cast of creatures. Fish bassists, deer guitarists, ostriches in front, and rabbit drummers grace the game’s graphics, and their appearance gives the impression of the irreverent approach the band is going for. There’s a lot of rock-centric approach, plenty of drama, and some rhythmic action, which is what put this movie at the top of my radar.

Created by the two-person team of Lichtund, this game aims to depict the ups and downs of being in a band, cruising through bars and compact venues, and finally headlining your own stadium tour. However, it’s a very parched and basic task where you have to deal with ego-stroking, spoiled brats, and lots of sticky spots.

Key Features:

  • Manage resources Time management (turn-based game)
  • Complete quests and side quests
  • Level up and get sweet gear
  • Customize your band and instruments
  • Plan and play concerts (what songs you will play, what equipment you will apply (from smoke machines to disco balls, we have it all), and even what the band will look like on stage)
  • Unlock novel songs (full soundtrack recorded in studio and performed by voice actors)
  • Experience branching narratives in 17 episodes where your choices matter
  • No two gameplays are the same!

This amazing-looking dim comedy was written by renowned video game writer Jakub Szamałek (senior writer of The Witcher 3, lead writer of Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Blood of the Dawn Treader). It is also fully voiced and features some very recognizable voices, including the iconic Iggy Pop.

It is available on wishlist CouplePlayStation and Xbox now, with Nintendo Switch deals coming soon!
