EA Sports FC 25 will introduce a paid Season Pass alongside the free-to-play track for the first time. The Premium Tier Pass will be constant across Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team and will feature packs, players and cosmetic customization items.
The Premium Tier will be available for purchase using both FC Points and Ultimate Team Coins. It will work similarly to the current free season of Ultimate Team in FC 24, where Ultimate Team players complete objectives to earn XP and unlock rewards such as Coin Boosts, Player Packs, and special Player and Icon items.
In screenshots seen by VG247, the Premium tier appeared as an additional reward once players reached a certain tier of rewards in the free Season Track. As players complete goals and earn XP, they unlock both the Free and Premium tier rewards simultaneously.
“The free tier would be pretty much what players see in the game today,” Ultimate Team producer Karthik Venkateshan told VG247 during the EA Sports FC 25 preview event.
“You can go back and see the free tier that was in 24 – and then we’ll add a premium pass on top of that. It’ll be shared across Clubs, Career, and Ultimate Team. That’s new in 25.”
“Generally speaking, there won’t be anything in the paid tier that you can’t get in the free tier,” explained Richard Waltz, Game Design Director for Ultimate Team. “There’s no exclusive rewards that mean you have to do this. We’ll have players, packs, things like that in Clubs, customization options.
“It’s also worth noting that the game will be available for both coins and FC points, so you can decide for yourself.”
The exact price of the Premium Season Pass has not been announced.
EA Sports has also announced a number of recent features for FC 25 Ultimate Team, as well as the game in general for the recent season. One of the long-awaited quality of life features that is being added is Duplicate Storage for non-tradable items that can then be used in SBCs.
You can now be demoted from the Rivals division, so you’re not forced to play at a higher level than you are. Additionally, cordial matchmaking has been separated from the ELO Rivals system to reduce the excessive competition that comes with casual play.
Weekly rewards will also be redesigned to be unlocked via a points-based system, with three points for a win and one for a tie, so players still feel like they’re making progress when the game ends in a tie. The rewards for higher ranks will apparently also be better than they’ve been in the past.
For Evolutions, EA is also considering relaxing the entry requirements so that players can utilize their favorite players more often and don’t have to focus so much on making the meta players the “best” choice (who are immediately wiped out anyway).
EA Sports FC 25 also introduces a 5-a-side game type called Rush, which will be implemented in Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team. Replacing VOLTA, Ultimate Team Rush is a 4-player social space where each person brings a single item from their UT collection to play a game on a petite pitch.
