Blizzard once again cuts off the discussion about the World of Warcraft console

Published:

Almost as long as we ran Press squareit was said that Blizzard would port World of Warcraft to consoles. Despite years of unfounded rumors and industry whispers, this has never happened – and that’s not likely to change anytime soon.

I’m talking about the newest one Untamed Fury podcast – WoW fan channel – Game director Ion Hazzikostas is asked about the recent murmurs about World of Warcraft being released on PlayStation and Xbox.

Unfortunately for hopeful observers, Hazzikostas explains the company’s current position:

Since Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft as part of its colossal acquisition of Activision Blizzard a few years ago, there have been suggestions that the Xbox owner will be pushing the developer to expand its WoW operations and eventually bring the franchise from home to PC.

But again, there was nothing concrete about it. We suppose there’s a chance WoW will enter the conversation as Xbox focuses more and more on its cross-platform efforts, but given the massive scale of the MMO at this point, it would likely represent quite a enormous undertaking.
