As more bugs are discovered, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead reminds players that not all data mining is worth getting excited about

Following discussions about Termind models from data mining found on the game’s Discord server, Helldivers 2’s community manager explained to players why the game does not acknowledge or respond to questions about these types of leaks via official channels.

In recent months, a number of models and images have appeared on Reddit, seemingly lurking in the backend of the game. Some of them are related to the faction’s long-rumored expansion, The Illuminate. The newest ones to come out are the Terminid models and this is one of them Bile loader that the leak he suggested would explode into a pile of acid upon death and the other being The impaler from the first Helldivers.

Some of the player comments about these discoveries made their way from Reddit to the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, prompting one of Arrowhead’s community managers to respond to those asking about it, outlining the studio’s current stance on leaks.

“The idea is to give some context that we never comment on or discuss leaks. Why? There is simply no benefit to us or to you,” they said. “Of course, we understand that some people are curious. That said, the things that are drawn from data mining may be rejected ideas, old things, newer things, works in progress or confirmed, as far as we know, but because users never know what is what – and mainly because we want offer players new content as pleasant surprises rather than shouting out everything that may or may not have been planned in advance – we don’t talk about it too much.”

“Que sera, sera, what will be will be, all good things come to those who wait, etc.”, they added, “I hope that’s satisfactory, or at least an explanation for why we don’t talk about it.”

So here you go. With the galactic war likely in a bit of a lull in terms of fresh, captivating developments right now, it’s understandable that people are paying more attention than ever to what data miners are doing, but maybe take a look at what you see with a grain of salt if it’s about expecting everything to show up in the game.
