If you’re looking to catch up on the Metroid Prime trilogy ahead of Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo isn’t making it simple at the moment. We believe this needs to be remedied – as does Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe.
In the modern book Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective, which will be released on October 28, 2025, the legendary Japanese developer touches on the idea of a remake of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, reflecting on the multiplayer mode introduced by Echoes, saying: “Retro completed multiplayer without sacrificing quality… Being of its time, it was designed to local play, so the number of players who actually experienced it may not have been very large. If it was remade, I would be delighted if more people had the chance to experience it.”
The 2023 remake of Metroid Prime for Nintendo Switch, which I gave a high 10/10it seemed, eh, base us for more remakes, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is naturally on board. In the run-up to Metroid Prime 4’s December 4 release, a remake series seemed like a natural choice. But rework takes a lot of time and resources, which evened the score more probably maybe Metroid Prime 2: Echoes will come to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack recently added GameCube selection. But no!
At this time, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes cannot be played anywhere other than on the original GameCube or Wii disc. It’s not easy to play everyone A Prime game other than Metroid Prime Remastered. The Metroid Prime trilogy on the Nintendo Wii was the last time Echoes or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was made available, and the disc has long since become a hot collector’s item. And you can forget about playing Metroid Prime Hunters on DS or Metroid Prime Pinball, which are tied to DS carts – and you I can just forget o Metroid Prime Federation Force on Nintendo 3DS, that’s fine.
While Tanabe’s comments don’t bring us any closer to the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes remake, each day brings us closer to Metroid Prime 4. Who knows, maybe GameCube games will make their way to Nintendo Switch Online, or better yet, we’ll see a re-release of the game Metroid Prime trilogy on Wii with improved controls and widescreen graphics, which we received 9.5 ala recent Super Mario collections… or even betterMetroid Prime 2 and 3 remastered. But maybe we’re being too greedy, after all, Metroid Prime 4 is just a few weeks away.
