Like most gacha titles early in their lives, Zen-free ground zero provides players with a fairly balanced lineup. However, as you might expect, this does not mean that all agents will perform at the same level.
So that you can invest wisely and quickly deal with all the ethers that come your way, here are the latest Zen-free ground zero level list.
All Zenless Zone Zero agents, ranking
Unlike most tier lists, we decided to split ours into S+ and B – because I don’t think any character in the game can be considered bad or incapable of fulfilling their role even at M0. With this in mind, we also decided to rank A-rank agents based on their value at M6 and S-rank agents at M0. You can check ours ZZZ List of levels below, and a more detailed look at each level and all of its agents heading below.
| Rung | Agents |
|---|---|
| S+ | Yanagi, Burnice, Cezar, Ellen Joe, Jane Doe, Lighter, Lycaon, Qingyi, Zhu Yuan |
| S | Anby, Grace, Koleda, Lucy, Seth, Soldier 11, Soukaku, Nicole, Piper, Nekomata, Rina |
| AND | Anton, Billy the Kid and Corin |
| B | Ben |
Level S+, explained
At the S+ level, we have agents who are the absolute best in their roles. Examples of this can be seen in Tsukishiro Yanagi and Jane Done, the best Anomaly Subs and main DPS in the game, as well as Caesar, also known as ZZZfinal support. You can check out what made each of the featured agents earn a spot at this level below:
- Tsukishiro Yanagi: Can deal massive amounts of Shock and Disorder DMG, the latter of which allows you to utilize all of the best DPS/Sub-DPS Anomalies in the game.
- Burnice: Capable of dealing massive amounts of Fire and Ignite DMG outside the field while also causing Disruption in quick succession.
- Caesar: Provides the team with a massive 1000 attack boost and the strongest shield in the game, while weakening enemies and dealing stagger on par with many A to S tier stun units.
- EllenJoe: Capable of dealing massive amounts of Ice DMG while interacting well with multiple agents.
- Jane Doe: Capable of dealing unparalleled amounts of attack DMG. Able to max out almost every sub-DPS/support Anomaly in the game.
- Lighter: Brings a huge amount of Daze to the ring and a great debuff of 15% ice and fire resistance. It is also the only stun unit in the game that can provide fire and ice DMG buffs.
- Qingyi: The best stun agent in the game when the goal is to apply pure stun.
- Lycaon: The best stun unit when using Ellen. Can apply massive amounts of stun while reducing targets’ resistance to ice damage.
- Zhu Yuan: The only Ether DPS in the game. He can deal huge amounts of damage in quick succession. Extremely F2P amiable considering her synergy with Nicole.
S level, explained

At S Tier we have all Agents that, while equally game-changing, have less utility or raw firepower compared to our S+ Tiers. Below you can check out an overview of all the character parts in this level, as well as why they were cut.
- Anby: A great all-around stunner, capable of dealing massive amounts of both stun and damage.
- Grace: It brings a huge amount of Electrical Anomaly to the field, while also synergizing well with all of the anomaly’s DPS.
- Ugly: Can deal massive amounts of stun while increasing the party’s chain attack DMG by 35%. The lighter lost its power.
- Lucy: Has the ability to offer a 600 attack boost in Home Run, which all DPS appreciate.
- Set: The best Anomaly support in the game, capable of giving the team 100 Anomalies and weakening enemies.
- Soldier 11: ZZZthe only standard Fire DPS. It can deal huge basic attack damage. She has very narrow team options, but can excel when paired with Lighter or Koleda.
- Soukaku: Can offer a great 20% ice DMG boost and up to 1000 attack points for your DPS. Best overall A-rank support for Ellen.
- Nicole: Top A-rank support for Zhu Yuan and a must-have for all her teams if you don’t have Caesar. Can reduce targets’ resistance to aether by 20%. It can also raise a team’s Ether DMG by 25% during tiny bursts, while offering up to a 15% raise in critical hit rate.
- Rin: Can raise the duration of Shock by three seconds, as well as raise the party’s Electric DMG and PEN.
- Piper: Can deal massive amounts of DMG on offense while also offering a good 18% DMG buff to the team. A great disruption-focused sub-DPS for any party.
- Nekomata: Can deal massive amounts of physical DMG, all with good synergy with Caesar and Piper.
Level A, explained

At the A tier we have all agents who either require very specific teams or lack the support and raw power that our S+ and S tiers have, causing them to have to work twice as strenuous to keep up with their numbers. This is true and as you can see below, you will only find DPS here.
- Anton: Capable of dealing massive amounts of stacked Electric DMG. DPS hungry in every sense of the word, as he can only succeed in the Burst state.
- Billy the Kid: Solid DPS focused on dealing damage over time rather than immense numbers. This can make it feel underwhelming compared to other physical DPS, especially Nekomata.
- Korin: Capable of dealing immense amounts of DMG and building Attack quickly by performing her EX and extended special attacks. Her low mobility and stun-dependent passive make her weaker against most bosses.
Level B, explained

We are the only one at Tier B (for now) who has Ben, whose set doesn’t offer anything significant compared to the set of other defense (or even support) agents in the game. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a worthy pick, however, as his special counter-attacking ability and ability to give the Colleague coordinated finishing attacks could make him a good alternative in single-shot teams.
