Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – walkthrough of the main story, including the order of the best regions

Published:

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a fairly linear game, with a quest marker constantly telling you where to go next, like a glowing yellow beacon in the fog. That said, there are several split paths in the game where you have to decide which region you’ll tackle first.

The specific choices you make at each fork in the road don’t have much impact on the game since you’ll visit each location eventually anyway, but for those who don’t know what to do first, we’ve got your back.

Below we present a brief overview of the above full walkthrough of the main storyline Zelda: Echoes of Wisdompaying attention to bits of narrative you may come across along the way, as well as to best order which you must complete when prompted to select multiple options.

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – walkthrough of the main story

Within Echoes of Wisdomyou’ll start in Suthorn Forest. You’ll then face the Gerudo Desert and the Jabul Waters (with a choice of which strikes first). You will go back to Hyrule Castle before the next fork: the Faron Swamps, Eldin Volcano, or the Hebra Mountains. Once you have completed all three, your journey will take you to the Eternal Forest, culminating in the point of no return, Null’s Body.

This is the bird’s eye view. For a deeper summary – including details about these sections and what upgrades or unlocks you can expect from each – read on. We also offer our advice on which regions to tackle first with two diverging paths Echoes of Wisdom.

We start in Suthorn Forest

The beginning of your journey is brief but sudden. Once you get out of the initial cave and report back to Hyrule Castle about the connection and those empty rifts, another rift will open and you’ll end up in prison. This opening part consists of several segments:

  1. Escape from prison and avoid the guards in the basement of Hyrule Castle
  2. Head towards the Suthorn Ruins
  3. Head to the Stilled Suthorn Ruins and Suthorn Ruins, which serve as a little tutorial on Tri’s various abilities

After closing the rift, you will be able to go to Lueburry’s workshop, where you will discuss the game plan with him and the official you rescued from the Ruins. Tri will indicate that they can see several huge gaps, pointing you in two directions…

Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters – what to do first?

After the beginning part, you will have to make a choice between helping the Gerudo people in Gerudo Desert or helping Zora Jabul Waters. Don’t worry because you’ll have to do both to complete the story, but which one should you do first?

The Geruda the game segment unlocks the extremely helpful echo that allows this to happen quickly move horizontally over cracks and depressions. You will also unlock Arc of Powerallowing you to operate a bow and arrow while in swordsman form. To complete the Gerudo part you need to do the following:

  1. Go to the Gerudo Valley
  2. Help the Gerudo close the gap leading to the ruins of the Stilled Desert Temple
  3. Go through the mysterious cave
  4. Close the rift in the Gerudo Sanctum dungeon

The Aurora segment in the waters of Jabul will unlock another very helpful echo that allows this Climb vertical cliffs with ease (no need for these beds anymore). You will also encounter an Echo which will allow you to operate it bombsso you can grab things behind cracked walls and blast bad guys. To complete the Jabul Waters part, you need to do the following:

  1. Go to the waters of Jabul
  2. Help Zora close the Stilled Upper Zora River Rift
  3. Defeat Jabu-Jabu in a brief boss fight
  4. Close the gap in the Ruins of Jabul dungeon

That said, we personally found the bow and arrow to be more helpful, so doing the Gerudo segment helped us complete the Zora segment more easily. This is up to you though, as both dungeons will give you useful tools to facilitate you complete the other one.

Returning to Hyrule Castle

Once you close these two giant gaps, you’ll be tasked with returning to Hyrule Castle. Finally, it’s time to save the king and put some things in order. Once you get there, this part is extremely linear, as you’ll have to go through a stationary version of Hyrule Castle, which is actually another dungeon.

After rescuing the king, Tri will notice three more giant fissures opening on the map in three key locations: Faron Wetlands, Eldin Volcano, and the Hebra Mountains.

Before you go to these places, now is a great time to fully explore the map. Between the Water Block Echo you got from Zora and the Flying Tiles Echo you got from Gerudo, you have tools that allow you to roam all over the map. You should spend some time exploring and completing some side quests. Power up a bit by finding Heart Pieces and Power Crystals to upgrade your weapons. Enemies will start hitting a little harder, so it’s worth being able to take them on without any problems.

Faron wetlands, Eldin volcano or Hebra mountains – what to do first?

You’ll find yourself at a crossroads again, but the order in which you complete the dungeons doesn’t really matter. However, you will receive different tools from different dungeons.

The Eldin Volcano is probably home to the Goron people and fire-based monsters. You will get full access to bombs in this segment of the game (not just bomb-like echoes) that can be used in the form of a sword warrior. The part about the Eldin volcano looks like this:

  1. Climb Mount Eldin to reach the Goron people
  2. Help the Gorons by completing the Stilled Goron City segment
  3. Find the two elders to find out how to get to the top of the mountain
  4. Enter the Eldin Temple to get rid of the rifts

The Faron Wetlands is home to Deku Scrubs and electric monsters (and their echoes, of course). The dungeons here focus on spider-like enemies facilitate scale walls both in the 2D platforming sections and the 3D world parts. The Faron Wetlands section is as follows:

  1. Go to the Faron Wetlands
  2. Help Blossu break his house through the Stilled Blossu House area
  3. Deku Scrub Lockup Prison Break
  4. Enter the Temple of Pharon to clear the area of rifts

The Hebra Mountains is the home of yeti-like creatures and ice monsters. This area seemed much more challenging than the others and didn’t offer us much to add to our skill arsenal (but that’s just our opinion). The Hebra Mountain segment follows the following path:

  1. Head to the Hebra Mountains in the north
  2. Help Condé by closing the gap in the Stilled Hebra Mountain cave
  3. Follow Condé up to find his brother
  4. Complete the Temple of Lanayru to close the rifts in the region

On this basis we recommend going to the Eldin volcano firstbecause having bombs on hand is just a nice bonus. From there you can then head to the Faron Wetlands and then to the Hebra Mountains once you’ve got your bearings.

We’re going to the Eternal Forest

After the above part, you will be sent back to Hyrule Castle and you will be in the final part of the game. Go to Eternal Foresti.e. the only part of the map you may not have visited. It’s located directly north of Hyrule Castle, and while your minimap will be obscured while you’re inside, it’s not as deep a maze as in other Legend of Zelda games.

After solving a brief puzzle and watching a few cutscenes, you’ll reach the Stilled Ancient Ruins, a somewhat linear platforming area where you just need to get from the south of the map to the northern part. Using tools like Water Block and Flying Tile Echo should quickly solve any problems, although there’s nothing wrong with having to summon a few beds if you need to. At this point in the game you should be able to summon quite a few items.

Once you reach the north, you’ll be tasked with a brief battle with the zero version of Zelda, and then free Link from his crystal prison.

You now have the option to continue the final part of the game. Tri will warn you that if you continue, you won’t be able to turn back, so it’s best to do so get your affairs in order before you leave. Backtrack through any Pieces of Heart, complete any side quests you left hanging, and of course, make some health-regenerating cocktails.

Point of No Return: Null’s Body

Together with Link, you will explore the final dungeon in the game, Null’s Body. Some of the dungeons are actually quite brief – but the boss fight is long. Then that’s it. Once you complete the game, you’ll unlock a few collection perks, but that’s really it!

Now it’s time to catch up on everything you missed – including remaining echoes, heart pieces, fairy bottles, and unfinished side quests.
