For some reason, Take-Two loves version Perfect darkness that the Initiative was involved in cooking. In fact, closed studio head Darrell Gallagher and game director Brian Horton have just been hired.
So first, a little background on this story.
You may recall that Microsoft canceled its long-in-the-works Perfect Dark reboot earlier this year and shut down the studio before it released a single game.
However, a report by Bloomberg writer Jason Schreier revealed that Take-Two was close to saving the project, although talks over who would ultimately own the intellectual property ultimately broke down.
Now Schreier has done it revealed that Take-Two has recruited two of the project’s top talents and created a up-to-date studio under the umbrella of 2K Games. The only conclusion we can draw is that he wants to continue working on Perfect Dark, although probably under a up-to-date name.
We suspect we’ll have to start from scratch, so it will be years before we see any progress. But damn, that original vertical slice looked promising, so I hope he manages to deliver an actual product this time.
