Every week I spend some time searching for the best graphics card deals to land on our Cheap Graphics Card Deals page. One trend I’ve noticed during my weekly deals sessions is how rarely the RTX 4070 is offered. It seems like this card is just too popular to drop in price. And yet today I found a damn good deal on it. What’s even better is that it’s the Super variant.
It’s a strange day because not only is the Galax GeForce RTX 4070 Super OC 2X available 560 dollars— not much more than the price of some standard non-Super RTX 4070 cards — is being offered on Amazon, no less. Amazon isn’t the place to find great GPU deals most of the time, but today I’m impressed.
This is saving, obviously$140. There’s no way this card normally costs $700. Even if the discount seems more generous than it actually is, it’s still a damn good price for the RTX 4070 Super — a card that has an MSRP of $599.
The RTX 4070 Super is more closely related to the RTX 4070 Ti than to the standard 4070. It has 7168 CUDA cores, which is 21% more than the standard model, and its TDP is only slightly higher at 220W to 200W.
That’s pretty impressive, as our Dave notes in his RTX 4070 Super FE review: “while the original was an RTX 3080 with benefits, this one feels more like a replacement for the RTX 3080 Ti, and in fact significantly outperforms it, all while using only nearly half the power.”
The RTX 4070 Super offers up to 12GB of GDDR6X memory, which is more than enough to let you sleep soundly at night without worrying about the “lack of VRAM” gremlin stealing frames. Just me?
While I haven’t used the same model from Galax before, I’m not too worried about the dual-fan cooling on this GPU, given its TDP. It’s a well-known brand and available through Amazon, so there should be some support if something goes wrong. Although let’s hope not, eh?
To sum up, we have an absolutely fantastic deal on a GPU in a rarely offered model.
