I’m a huge fan of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which pits Sonic and his friends against a stable of characters from other Sega games, including Total War and Football Manager. I’m less of a fan of Sonic’s other go-kart racing exploits, but I’m still cautiously interested in the possibility of him getting back behind the wheel. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has just been announced.
Well, that’s brief. And it doesn’t feature Sonic – it’s current favorite Shadow, who gets behind the wheel in the brief trailer above. Apparently we’ll learn more about the game in 2025.
Perhaps it will be about who is doing it. There is no developer logo above the Sega bar in the trailer. The most recent game in the series, 2019’s Team Sonic Racing, and its predecessor Racing Transformed were the work of Sumo Digital – though a long time has passed and the newer one wasn’t well received, so I doubt it’s the same people doing it this time.
In any case, the idea suggested by the title “CrossWorlds” gives me hope that I will be able to race this strange, headless Football Manager again.
