Who needs this crap in GTA 6 when LEGO Fortnite lets you commit crimes?

LEGO Fortnite it’s back at it again, and this week there’s a huge expansion coming in the form of a round of updates that open the gates to Brick Life. Up to 32 players can live a luxurious life in the heart of a bustling metropolis in the world of Fortnite, whether you’re busy building a good criminal reputation and stealing cars, or making friends and customizing your dream home. Brick Life launches on December 12 and will feature many of its own updates in the future, including modern job opportunities, events and resources.

So no, we may not have GTA 6 yet, but we don’t need it because we can role-play to our hearts’ content in the blocky LEGO Fortnite world we all know and love. The world is literally your oyster as you can become a sushi chef, a security guard, or you can just travel around the city taking on various missions with a whole lobby of other people. Brick Life takes the immense popularity of GTA RP and packages it in a colorful, slightly more PG version of the senior GTA V servers. Granted, you probably won’t be able to hang out in a strip club or run over people with your car, you’ll just have to wait for GTA for that 6.

However, Brick Life isn’t the only modern name on the scene. As part of a series of updates, LEGO Fortnite will now be renamed slightly to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, and the “LEGO Fortnite” moniker will be used to refer to the space within Fortnite itself that houses all of our blocky escapades. Fortnite appears to be following in Roblox’s footsteps by gradually transitioning to a full gaming platform rather than just a standalone game. LEGO and Epic are close friends, considering we have both LEGO Obby Fun and LEGO Raft Survival, which were created using the Unreal Editor in Fortnite, along with what we will now know as Odyssey, and the Brick game mode LifeRP.

LEGO Fortnite Odyssey will officially resume on December 10, right before Brick Life, and with it comes an all-new boss called the Storm King. Additionally, the update brings improvements to the core gameplay, such as an overhaul of the progression system and the introduction of slightly different crafting systems, so hopefully getting LEGO Fortnite won’t be too much of a hassle for Flexwood or LEGO Fortnite Knotroot.

All this wonderful innovation is the result of a long-term partnership between the LEGO Group and Epic Games, and since the launch of LEGO Fortnite last year, LEGO elements and tools have been made available to Fortnite creators in the hope that the community will expand collaboration and support creativity and experimentation.

This is exactly what senior school LEGO sets used to do. It’s a pretty frigid way to bring the senior mentality of structural elements into a newer, high-tech space. We’re sure this is just the beginning, but we can’t wait to fire up the Brick Life server, unleash our imaginations, and play with everyone else.
