Where to Grow Pepper in Once Human

Published:

Given that Once Human is a survival game from start to finish, you’ll often need to keep yourself hydrated and well-fed while slaying all manner of Deviant enemies and looting various points of interest. While plenty of fruits, vegetables, and animals can be found throughout the wasteland, some ingredients are much more elusive than others, such as Peppercorn.

Peppercorn is an ingredient in many recipes, including Preserved Deviated Chops, which, when consumed, raise the amount of acid dropped by enemies. If you need aid getting this, here where to farm pepper in once human.

Where to Grow Pepper in Once Human

Pepper is one of the many ingredients you can find in the wild in Once Human, though you’ll encounter it far less often than foods like corn or cabbage. It also occurs as a common green plant, meaning it pairs particularly well with other inedible plants.

If you’re lucky, you’ll also find Peppercorn or Peppercorn Seeds in Storage Crates around the map. I seem to have gotten a few that way, but that — and searching for Peppercorn in the wild — isn’t the most reliable way to get the ingredient.

You can buy some pepper and pepper seeds though. If you visit the Blackfell camp in Red Sands and talk to laceywill sell various items in exchange for Energy Links.

Once a day, you can buy three Peppercorns from her for 50 Energy Links each. As for Peppercorn seeds, you can buy three of them per week for 1000 Energy Links each.

When you’re just starting out in Once Human, I recommend planting as many pepper seeds as you can get your hands on. You can do this by building and placing clay soil or planter boxes around your base.

By interacting with the planter, you can plant pepper seeds and choose fertilizer and water if you have them. Once planted, they will grow for a few hours, but when you harvest the crop, you also have a chance to receive more seeds.

So buy those pepper seeds from Lacey and start planting as many as you can. If you do this and manage to get your seeds back during harvest, you should technically have an infinite, albeit slow-growing, supply of pepper.
