In addition to metal ores and minerals, the Forge also offers a variety of shiny gemstones that can be found in the depths of caves and mine shafts. But unlike real life and most other video games, the rarest and most valuable of these real gemstones is the sparkling red Ruby.
Typically, diamonds are considered the rarest and most exorbitant, but your chances of landing a Ruby in the Forge are more than double. Furthermore, they are required for Captain Rowan and Sensei Moro to complete early-to-mid-game quests. However, they actually appear as a mission requirement before you possibly have the mining power to actually get them.
Here’s how and where to find the Ruby in the Forge, and the best place to look for it!
Location of the Ruby Forge
Rubies in the Forge can only be mined from Basalt Veins located in the Ruined Cave The Forgotten Kingdom.
Ruby’s key stats are as follows:
- Rarity: Epic
- Base mining chance: 1/487
- Forging multiplier: 2.95x
- Sale price: $44.25
Basalt veins can only be broken with a base mining power of 78, requiring at least a Mythril pickaxe.
While technically basalt veins can be found throughout the Ruined Cave, they are a uncommon and unpredictable spawn point. The best place to find them is to enter the Volcanic Depths, which is a sub-area of the Broken Cave, which you can find by turning right at the main entrance and then turning right until you reach a Miner selling a magma pickaxe.
There are two guaranteed, fast-regenerating Basalt Veins spawns at the entrance to the Volcanic Depths. This makes it an extremely popular spot for me, but if you can manage to have a good, uninterrupted session you can get some Rubies really quickly.
It’s best to mine this place from above, otherwise the powerful elite enemies lurking in the Depths may target you and cause problems.
If this location is occupied, you can also find Basalt Veins in the Volcanic Depths, but since there are so many enemies, it can be complex to mine them effectively. Either way, once you dig out some basalt veins, you should find some rubies in no time!
