- What the Car? Wins Best Mobile Game at Gamescom Latam 2024
- The awards ceremony was held in cooperation with BIG Festival
- All nominated games were available to play at the fair, and the mobile version successfully mixed with the desktop version
The inauguration took place last week Gamescom I’m Flying The event took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and its goal was to highlight Latin America’s growing presence in the gaming industry, as well as to celebrate the industry worldwide. Part of that was prizes for games in cooperation with BIG Festivaland the winners were announced in an elegant presentation during the event.
There were 13 categories in total, and 49 judges selected all finalists. All of the nominated games were available to play at the Sao Paulo Expo in a immense booth that attendees were unlikely to miss. It was nice to see mobile games mixed in with the PC nominees, rather than being confined to their own section as you might expect. After all, mobile games are just as vital.
Of all these categories, naturally, we were most interested in the “Best Mobile Game” award, which ultimately went to Triband ApS’ What the car? A worthy winner, if you ask me. Our own Jupiter Hadley previously highlighted the game in her article highlighting ten awesome games you may not have heard of, so it’s great that it’s getting even more recognition. Even if it means we’ll have to adjust this list if it becomes a household name.
But while What the Car? drove away with the coveted prize in its boot, it’s worth praising the other nominees. They made it past the shortlist after all, so you can expect a quality experience:
-
Junkworld – Ironhide Game Studio
-
Bella Pelo Mundo – Children of the Story
-
Elmwood Trail – Techyonic
-
Sibel’s Journey – Food for Thought Media
-
Residuum Tales of Coral – Iron Games

Game of the Year – Sennar Songs – Rundisc

-
Best Brazilian Game – Momodora: Moonlit Farewell – Bombservice
