Okay, let’s get down to specifics and answer the question: what is Twitter?
What is Twitter?
Twitter, renamed X (though we’ll still call it Twitter), is a social media platform where users share thoughts, jokes, news and almost anything else that can be put into words of 280 characters. You can add photos, videos, polls and much more to your post.
Twitter is a good place to find news, especially in specific industries. Many people exploit it as a work tool, unlike other social media platforms that are more focused on communicating with friends and family. However, this is not the only exploit of Twitter, as there are many ways in which it can be used. The best way to find out is to dive in and try it out.
To compose a tweet, go to Twitter and tap the plus sign on the mobile app or type in the box at the top of the desktop home page. What do you want to say? Well, as Twitter itself suggests, just think about “what’s going on,” whatever that means.
What is the Explore tab on Twitter?
You can find the latest information in the Explore tab on Twitter. Things can trend because of breaking news, a up-to-date video game trailer, or anything else that a lot of people are talking about. The more often a keyword is used on the platform, the higher its trends.
To find the Explore tab, go to Twitter and tap Explore on the left side of your web browser or the magnifying glass at the bottom of your screen in the mobile app. From there, you can see different trends around the world, your country, your industry, or your demographic.
What is the character limit on Twitter?
Twitter’s original character limit was increased to 280 in 2017.whereas previously it was 140. I’m no mathematician, but I’m sure it’s a 100% boost, I’ll just check it in a calculator… Yes, that’s twice!

Twitter Blue is the up-to-date paid tier of the social media platform, now called X Premium to match the site’s up-to-date name. It offers subscribers a blue checkmark, the renowned symbol once reserved for public figures, journalists and other reputable media outlets.
There are several tiers of X Premium, each with additional benefits. These benefits include reduced ads, the aforementioned checkmark, creator subscriptions, ad revenue sharing, and more. Check X Premium Help Page for detailed information.
How much does X Premium cost?
X Premium is divided into three tiers, confusingly named Basic, Premium and Premium Plus. Here is the price breakdown:
- Basic: Prices start at $3 per month or $32 per year for the web version
- Bonus: Starts at $8 per month or $84 per year online
- Premium+: Starts at $16/month or $168/year online
Do what you want with your money, but if you want my opinion, a paid subscription plan that doesn’t remove all ads and offers access to exclusive but unspecified features sounds like a scam to me!

What were Twitter circles?

Team X has decided to retire Circles in October 2023, which means you can no longer post to your Circle or add up-to-date people. You can still remove people though, which is just a bit rude.
