Bastion is one of the unique Remnant 2 buffs you have access to. If you want to get the most out of Bulwark, here’s what you need to know about it.
What is the Bastion buff in Remnant 2?
As the name of this buff suggests, Bastion is a defensive buff that provides cumulative damage reduction based on durationhelping you survive even in the most challenging situations. Its usefulness depends on how you utilize it in your build, as you really want to set it up quickly for full effectiveness. Bastion’s single stack isn’t noticeable, but if you find a way to stack, you can turn into a literal tank while the buff is lively.
How to get Bastion in Remnant 2
There are many, many sources for Bastion, the most obvious of which come from accessories such as Whispering marblewhich gives you three stacks permanently by simply equipping the item.
You can combine Bastion’s effects by using other items that also provide a buff, such as Fae Bruiser’s Ringgiving you two stacks when you melee an enemy.
The more sources of Bastion you have, the more powerful it becomes. Some items also only work because they are lively rather than just giving a buff. For example, Isolation Driver increases your damage by 15% and gives you a Haste buff while you have Bastion.
Additionally, another method to capture Bastion is to play Challenger archetype. Its main advantage, Be challenging to eradicategrants charge as a passive effect on cooldown. Naturally, this Archetype-based Bastion works with all other item-based Bastion stacks, so you can combine them to create a build around it. Just remember that the Challenger must be set as yours Prime Archetype to get a stack of Bulwark from the class.
Is it worth using Bulwark in Remnant 2?
I completed Remnant 2 on the hardest difficulty without ever using Bastion as I used Shields instead to mitigate the damage. That said, one of my co-op partners used Bulwark exclusively throughout the entire game (and DLC) and played around with the buff to create a powerful, functional melee version. To sum up, Bastion is only worth using if you are building around it.
Other items and skills that provide damage reduction will work well with Bastion. Stacking base armor, armor bonuses, and damage reduction with the up-to-date fragment/prism system will further benefit Bulwark. Just don’t expect it to be effective if you’re using the buff half-heartedly, as it requires several charges to be even remotely effective.
