Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Players operate a up-to-date gun to turn the game into Ghostbusters 40k.

This week Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 received a up-to-date update (patch 4.5) and with it the highly anticipated Neo-Volkite pistol.

The Neo-Volkite Pistol is a powerful thermal weapon that fires deadly beams that burn enemies to ash. It is available for the Assault, Vanguard, and Bulwark classes and is restricted to Operations, Space Marine 2’s three-player PvE mode focused on co-op.

And that’s where Space Marine 2 players team up to create a three-way stream of death from the Neo-Volkite gun, bringing back memories of all the times the Ghostbusters used their iconic proton packs to trap ghosts.

The Neo-Volkite gun is unique among the Space Marine 2 armory in that it fires a beam of heat at enemies, dealing stacking thermal damage. Focusing on one enemy increases the damage until it generates a localized explosion that deals massive damage to your target and all nearby enemies.

Players have found that while the Neo-Volkite pistol is fun to operate, it is not that effective, especially on harder difficulties where ammo is insufficient. At least that’s how it is in isolation. But what happens when all three players operate the Neo-Volkite gun to concentrate three heat beams on the pesky Terminids? You get a satisfying Ghostbusters-style alien death, and that’s the point.

Redditor Crimsas demonstrated this in action, showing how effective three Neo-Volkite guns can be brought down, all aimed at one powerful Termanid enemy (Carnifex, in this case).

Now all we need is a mod that replaces the Neo-Volkite gun model with the actual Proton Pack and we have the Ghostbusters 40k edition.

Publisher – said Focus Entertainment for now, it limits the Neo-Volkite pistol to operational mode “as we continue to experiment with balancing in PvP.” It will be added to the Eternal War mode in the next major Space Marine 2 update, along with a up-to-date Operations map, a up-to-date enemy, and Dark Angels cosmetics. So hopefully it won’t be long before even PvP is filled with some Ghostbusters action.

In September, Saber imaginative director Tim Willits told IGN how the breakthrough success of Space Marine 2 “changed everything” for the company. Eagle-eyed fans have already spotted the Space Marine chapter, and it’s all but confirmed that they’ll be getting a post-Dark Angels cosmetic packtoo.
