Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 publisher Focus Entertainment has detailed the upcoming 5.0 update and confirmed that the game has sold five million copies.
Patch 5.0, which will be released in the first half of December, will make the previously released Neo-Volkite pistol (the one players used to recreate Ghostbusters) available in PvP mode. It also includes the long-awaited Dark Angels chapter pack and another fresh operation called Obelisk. The Dark Angels Chapter Pack includes the Dark Angels Champion, which is a unique armor set and banner for the Bastion class.
As confirmed in A forum entryThree weapons also feature exclusive graphics inspired by the Dark Angels chapter: an automatic rifle, a plasma pistol and a power sword. The Bulwark class also receives the unique Dark Angel Storm Shield.
The Dark Angels Chapter Pack includes the heraldry of the Second Founders and subsequent Dark Angels chapters: Angels of Absolution, Angels of Redemption, Angels of Vengeance, Nameless Ones, Blades of Vengeance, Hooded Guardians, Bringers of Judgment, and Angels of Defiance.
New armor pieces will also be added, including the Mark VIII Ravenwing helmet. All of these items will be unlockable through cosmetic heraldry.
Patch 5.0 also adds colored lenses to the customization menu, something fans have been clamoring for since Saber Interactive’s Space Marine 2 launched in September. You will be able to choose from 15 different colors.
The fresh Operation Obelisk sends players to Demerium. You must rotate the obelisk replica to disrupt the flow of energy protecting the Aurora device. To reach the obelisk control console, you must get through the tomb, which is in darkness. Focus said this operation is taking place in parallel with the final events of the campaign.
As fans noticed in the previously released trailer, this fresh Operation will feature the enemy Tzaangor Enlightened Majoris. In fact, Tzaangor Enlightened will appear in every Chaos PvE operation starting with Update 5.0.
Finally, update 5.0 adds support for Frame Generation DLSS and FSR 3 technologies. It is worth noting that patch 5.0 will enable the announced mod block for public PvE sessions. However, mods will still be available for apply in private PvE sessions.
Meanwhile, Saber has finally confirmed the PS5 Pro specs for Space Marine 2, although it will be a bit of a disappointment that the game doesn’t run at 60 frames per second in quality mode even after Sony’s $700 mid-gen console refresh.

In September, Saber inventive director Tim Willits told IGN how the breakthrough success of Space Marine 2 “changed everything” for the company. Eagle-eyed fans have already spotted the Space Marine chapter, and it’s all but confirmed that they’ll be getting a post-Dark Angels cosmetic packtoo.
