Long lines are hands-down the worst part of any theme park experience. It’s no wonder theme parks have found ways to make tons of money off of people who just want to skip the lines — it can be a pain. But now, Roblox players are leaning into the experience of waiting in line at theme parks. In a up-to-date TikTok trend, users are sharing clips from the Universal Roblox Theme Park game, which basically involves waiting in virtual lines in the game.
Roblox is a platform that allows users to play, share, and create games. It is filled with a ton of promotional games for various brands, including Roblox Universal Amusement Park. In the game, players can explore a virtual recreation of Universal Parks. It’s not the most detailed recreation — some areas of the park have been renamed, like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter being called “Wizarding Village,” presumably for licensing reasons — but it does rework aspects of the park experience. First, you can ride some of the biggest rides, check the wait times, wait, and then “ride” a first-person version of the attraction in Roblox.
Instead of showing gameplay on roller coasters, gamers are sharing videos of themselves standing in virtual queues.
TikTok user Mandee shared a video showing the queue for the Spider-Man virtual ride based on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. The clip shows a group of avatars in a long queue that winds around metal barriers. The text above the clip reads, “how many aura points do I lose waiting 20 minutes to ride the new Spider-Man ride at Universal Roblox.”
Another user shared similar movie takes viewers on a ride called The Mummy. Or a ride. It features avatars lined up in a queue, with text overlaid on the video saying, “I am actually 18 years old and waiting in line to ride the Roblox Universal Mummy.”
The funniest thing about this is that waiting in line is completely optional. Once you get in line, the game gives you a button that lets you skip the wait and just ride the ride. It’s a virtual world, so everyone can ride it at the same time if they want. But hey, that would break the immersion, because everyone knows that waiting in line is an inevitable part of any amusement park.
