Elden Ring Nightreign headlined The Game Awards last night, as you’d expect with anything involving FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed fingertips. Bandai Namco revealed that it will undergo a network test early next year, with sign-ups opening in January.

If you somehow missed the announcement of Nightreign, it is a co-op focused title that will allow multiple players to take on FromSofftverse bosses in cooperative environments. So yes, Elden Ring with its buddies in a form that isn’t just about leaving cheeky notes for each other and the occasional attack to assist with a particular fight or other nonsense.

This modern game is scheduled to release at some point in 2025, and will undergo online testing shortly after the calendar turns into the modern year.

The test took place inscribed for February 2025, and registration will start on January 10, so you really don’t have to wait long to try your luck and be among the chosen ones. However, only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are listed as platforms for the test, which means you’re clearly out of luck if you’re playing on PC or previous-gen consoles.

What will you do if you get in? Well, Bandai writes: “The Network Test is an initial verification test in which selected testers play a portion of the game before fully launching the game. Various technical verifications of online systems will be verified by conducting large-scale network load tests. “

If it helps, think of these technical details as the bosses you fight in a boss fight, and the online stability in the full version will be the great reward you get for killing them. You can call it “network stable aura” if that doesn’t sound fancy enough when you’re bragging to your friends that you bought it.
