Vampire Survivors will have a spin-off. It’s called Vampire Crawlers, and it’s a first-person roguelike dungeon deck-building game with all the addictive sound and visual effects from Vampire Survivors.
In Xbox Wire Mail following the announcement, developer Poncle provided more information on what to expect. Vampire Crawlers takes place in the same world as Vampire Survivors, with the same characters, items, and apparently even jokes. However, this is a completely recent genre and perspective. Choose your robot – a returning character from Vampire Survivors – and explore dungeons with him, build a deck of attacks and tools, and fight enemies with your cards. There’s even a card customization mechanism that will change the way you play cards.
Poncle clearly states that this is a spin-off, not a sequel, and “hopefully the first in a series of spin-offs.” He adds that he is working on it something regarding a sequel, but I can’t talk about it yet.
Vampire Crawlers will be released in 2026 on Xbox Series, PC, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
Meanwhile, Vampire Survivors is great. It was released seemingly out of nowhere, in early access in December 2021, and a few months later it turned out to be a huge hit. It made a splash thanks to its simplicity yet addictive nature, as well as its cheeky humor and Castlevania riffs, even though it’s nothing like Castlevania in terms of gameplay. In our 8/10 review we said it was “deceptively simple, but it turns out to be an incredibly deep hole to fall into – though not without long periods of boredom when you’re ahead of the curve.”
