Valorant welcomes a fresh Initiator – Tejo

Published:

Evaluation announces its newest instigator, Tejo – a well-dressed man of action – has officially joined the Agent roster. Hailing from Colombia, Tejo will undoubtedly shake up the game with his unique kit that flushes out enemies using a top-down approach. Tejo requires you to analyze the situation mid-round and utilize your skills to strategically clear the way for your team. Based on the enemy’s playstyle, where is he likely to be? Can you utilize their location to your advantage and put them in a vulnerable position?

“We had a gameplay opportunity where we wanted to have an Initiator who thought about the map a little differently – more top-down rather than looking at angles one by one. We wanted to try and add some skills with results like flushing, which was really exciting to create these power windows,” noted Ryan “Rycou” Cousart, game designer at Tejo.

Initiators must act precisely. We’ve all been there – looking at agent guides on YouTube, going to a custom event to test out a lineup, sneaking through walls to see if it landed correctly. Tejo offers Initiators something different by allowing utilities to be precisely placed using the map in more precisely defined areas, rather than relying on the perfectly sized pixel arrays that some larger utilities may rely on. This allows for greater precision in what you want to do, but with the trade-off of a smaller area of influence.

To utilize his precise utility effectively, Tejo needs certain information – and like other Initiators, he is good at gathering this information himself. “Because Tejo can provide information about where enemies are, it allows him to be much more consistent in the value he can bring,” said John Goscicki, agent team leader. “Tejo is one of the few initiators without flash, so it will be more effective with another initiator like Breach or KAY/O where you can create really fast, explosive shots.”

The idea of this Agent being an Initiator who leads the team with a sturdy sense of the game goes hand in hand with the perception of someone who has experience on the battlefield and in life.

“We often used the expression ‘man of action’. We’ve all seen movies and read books where we just see a guy in a buttoned jacket who just comes and destroys everyone,” Gościcki noted. “He’s a tough professional – his shirt is unbuttoned and he’s ready for action. He’s not like Chamber, where every detail of his outfit matters to reinforce the idea of hitting the perfect shot. Tejo will be running in there through all the explosions, and everything has to be loose, wavy and comfortable.

Anyone can play Tejo, but those with a strategic mind can really make it shine. Take the challenge and learn to utilize it to your advantage before others do. If the fresh Agent isn’t already stimulating enough, check out the fresh PlayStation Plus deal, which includes a variety of in-game items such as the Snowball Gun Buddy, Celestial Player Card, Guardians of Light Spray, Sovereign Spray, and Radianite Points.

As Tejo would say, “We can stand around all day and talk about killing them… or we’ll just do it.” Valorant is now free on PS5.
