While some have managed to reach the true grand finale since Game Science released its boss-filled action-RPG last month, many others are still working to check all the boxes needed to unlock the secret ending. This is the third and most arduous ending to achieve in Black Myth: Wukong, as it requires players to complete a series of quests woven throughout the campaign, then defeat the final boss twice.

Black Myth: Wukong’s true secret ending is hidden behind a long list of arduous tasks.

The journey to the true secret ending of Black Myth: Wukong begins with finding secret areas hidden in four of the six story chapters. Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5 each contain these hidden locations, and even their own hoops to jump through in order to access and complete them. Accessing Chapter 2’s secret area itself requires completing a separate quest for the NPC warthog, and also involves two bosses to defeat – Tiger Vanguard and Fuban. With each location and its requirements in mind, players will also need to make sure they complete the Treasure Hunter side quest in Chapter 3 and defeat the game’s final boss, The Great Sage’s Broken Shell. Make sure you don’t start the New Cycle later on, though, as there’s still a lot to do.

After choosing to continue your journey, you must find Mount Mei, with arguably the game’s most arduous boss, Erlang, the Holy Divine, waiting to greet anyone who has made it this far. Finally, after defeating Erlang and the four Heavenly Kings who follow him, you must defeat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell once more. Then, after what will surely be hours of work, you will be rewarded with the true secret ending of Black Myth: Wukong, which includes a beautifully animated cinematic.

That’s… a lot! Luckily, if you’re low on time or just can’t get through the Erlang fight, we’ve recorded and shared the entire clip below. You can skip to the 33-minute mark to see it for yourself, and be sure to follow the walkthrough if you need assist accessing these secret locations.

Black Myth: Wukong was released on August 20 for PC and PlayStation 5. An Xbox Series X | S version is in development, but there is no release date yet..
