UnGodly is an upcoming dim fantasy RPG from the creator of Galaxy of Heroes

  • The game will be released on mobile devices early next year and will feature cross-play with the console and PC versions

It’s not often that ID@Xbox presentations are so critical to us here at Pocket Gamer. Beyond personal interests, i.e. But today is a little different, with the announcement that Azra Games is bringing its upcoming action RPG, UnGodly, to mobile devices, consoles, and PC.

Not only that, but it’s coming to mobile first. The planned release is the first quarter of 2026, and console and PC players will get their hands on it later this year. That makes sense too. Not only is it a “character collection RPG” (also known as a gacha RPG), something you’d find at home and expect to see on phones, but its creator is Mark Otera.

If the name doesn’t sound familiar, Otera was the original creator of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, so it’s protected to say he knows a thing or two about mobile devices. Sure, he’s left all things Jedi and Sith behind in the past, but what he’s left behind endures as Galaxy of Heroes turns ten years elderly next month.

Slice and dice

A promising pedigree, but what about the game itself? Well, apart from the rather corny name, it gives me a Genshin meets dim fantasy vibe. Judging by the trailer you can watch above, you can switch between characters mid-fight to exploit their different skills to defeat enemies.

While I admit this is a rather flippant description, I would argue that it is still quite correct. At least from what we’ve seen now. There’s also a lot more brutality here, which I definitely support. We have no shortage of colorful anime-style gacha RPGs, so something a little more gritty is very welcome.

But don’t expect just bloodthirsty action. Azra promised to focus on narrative, especially through the affinity system. With it, you can unlock different stories for each character, and each of them sounds like it is full of tragedy and vulnerability.

I see a lot of people switching off immediately, but I, for one, am very intrigued to see what UnGodly has to offer when it launches next year. In the meantime you can check official website and our list of the best gacha games for Android.
