Trombone Champ: Unflattened is available now and lets you play your own trombone in virtual reality

I really enjoyed playing Trombone Champ with a mouse on a flat-screen monitor, but in hindsight I can see that it was a perfect candidate for a VR conversion. First, it has a tiny scope, but VR also allows you to see through the eyes of the honker and move the trombone note up and down by holding the motion controllers to your face.

The same is the case with Trombone Champ: Unflattened, a VR spin-off that is available now.

Created by Flat2VR Studios, a company that specializes, as the name suggests, in bringing games from flat screens to VR, Unflattened appears to be more than just a elementary reformat. The menu is all recent, sheet music flies at you Beat Saber style, there are cosmetic unlocks for the trombone, and you can unlock and trade cards from renowned musicians from throughout history.

Remember that the basic turning remains the same. Trombone Master: It is unflattened available on Steam and will work with more VR headsets than just the Meta Quest featured in the trailer above. It costs £12.79 / €14.79 / $15.

It seems unlikely that Unflattened will retain what was best about the original: the community that surrounds it. Trombone Champ players host championship competitions, create custom songs and turn them into great YouTube videos for you to enjoy whether you play the game yourself or not.
