- Roguelike dungeon crawler Torerowa is now in open beta on Android
- It’s a bit like someone combined anime with Dark & Darker
- Join up to three other players and work together to overcome obstacles, monsters and other adventurers.
Torerowa from Asobimo Inc., a multiplayer roguelike RPG, is now available in open beta on Google Play. Pitting you and up to three other adventurers against the inhabitants of a massive dungeon, you’ll have to face not only monsters and traps, but also other adventurers who want to escape alive with the riches they’ve found.
In quick, 10-minute matches and with up to 15 other adventurers, you take on the role of a treasure hunter exploring a variety of mysteriously appearing dungeons called Restos. You’ll be able to customize not only your character’s appearance, but also the weapons and equipment they employ to maximize their chances of survival.
The best way to describe Torrerow, from what I’ve seen, is “What if Dark and Darker looked like anime?” The design philosophy is more or less the same, but the look and feel of this top-down roguelike owes a lot more to Diablo than Escape from Tarkov. But for purists who want a lot of difficulty and other equally eager adventurers to contend with, this might be for you.
Roguelike with a true roguelike environment
While I never like to employ the word unique (and I won’t start now), I have to admit that Torerowa is at least unusual. As above, it looks like someone took Dark and Darker, took it apart, and put it back together, adding typical anime and characters, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
If you’re curious about Torerowa, now might be a good time to check it out, as the game is currently available in beta until August 30 on Google Play.
