Toem is a black-and-white photo puzzle adventure game that delighted us in 2021. It will be available for free download on the Epic Games Store next week.
“It’s just great fun, isn’t it?” Alice B wrote in her review of Toem. “It’s not groundbreaking, Toem, but it’s somehow nostalgic and modern at the same time, a silly world that you can just enjoy, without feeling guilty. No over the top commentary on modern society. No hidden meanings. The occasional hidden sock or ghost that you can only see if you’re wearing magic sunglasses, yeah. Mostly just having fun and taking pictures. I’ve been there, I’ve played Toem. It was good.”
Which certainly sounds good enough. Toem will be free to keep between September 19 and September 26, and you’ll be able to download it from the Epic Games Store. You’ll need an Epic Games account to do so.
Joining Toem will be The Last Stand: Aftermath, a roguelite zombie shooter that I’m not familiar with.
Until Toem comes out, as usual, there are two other games you can keep for free from Epic. They are: Super Crazy Rhythmic Castlewhose name kind of tells you what you need to know, and Rugrats: Adventures in Gamelandwhich is a modern platformer based on an senior cartoon. You could say it’s somehow nostalgic and up-to-date at the same time – and I have shamelessly fond memories of Rugrats – but I don’t want to play it, sorry.
