How to play

Connections is one of the most popular (and demanding) daily puzzle games published by The New York Times. The purpose of the connections is to group 16 words of the day for four groups, in which each group of four words has a common topic.

For example, the words “Hook”, “Nana”, “Peter” and “Wendy” are the characters of Peter Pan. Or to take another example, “Action”, “Ballpark”, “Go” and “Stick” are all words that often appear just before the word “drawing”.

Your task is to find out what these topics combine different words together – but be careful, because for a lot of time there are disingenuous combinations with red herring placed only to lose you! To win the game, you need to find all four connections without making 4 mistakes. During the fourth error, the game ended and the answer is revealed automatically.

Each of the four groups in the puzzle every day is also attributed to a different color, which represents how effortless or tough to find a connection. These colors are: yellow (easiest), green (effortless), blue (medium) and purple (the most tough).

As a player, it is too effortless to make a false matching of the “character” and “avatar”. Although I realized that it was not about the game when I saw “individual” and “person”, I was still not sure whether to choose an avatar or party as the fourth member. You really need to solve today’s purple category before you can certainly create blue.

Fortunately, I know all four science fiction fiction in this puzzle, so it wasn’t tough for me. My guess is that most players know Dune (how can you not be?), But maybe a stranger, especially the throne, is slightly less known. There may be some risk of hijacking the throne (as an instrument or words that may “sound” large) with a different category, if not.

As often happens, the yellow category contains words of similar importance, making it quite effortless. Green requires more associations, because the word does not mean the same, but they are used for the same purpose (in this case eating soup). Both are great examples of the logic of the category of easier connections.

Congratulations, if you have today’s connections, answer well, with or without the assist of our handy tips above! And if you are not successful today, don’t worry – the novel puzzle is published every day at midnight, so you can try again tomorrow, just like Wordle!
