Thank your personal deity, perhaps The Elder Beast—it’s Friday! What’s better is that it’s the beginning of the school holidays, which means you’ll need a ton of low-cost games to keep yourself (or your kids) busy for hours. My ongoing Steam Summer Sale picks should handle this feature pretty well, plus I’m always on the hunt for low-cost Amazon/digital store items worth grabbing. In retro news: I’m celebrating my 17th birthday Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, one of the most surprising ports I’ve ever played. While there were plenty of first-party Wii games worth adoring at the time, third-party publishers seemed to have trouble (or be uninterested in) utilizing the unique Wiimote + nunchuk control scheme in mature titles. Resi 4 had the obvious advantages of being a beast in its genre, but damn if that wasn’t elevated even further by a 1:1 delicate gun style shooter. Of course, the fantastic quicktime events can still go to hell.
