Diablo 4’s next gigantic moment is almost here. The game is currently in the final days of Season 5, and while everyone is certainly looking forward to Season 6, the biggest thing on everyone’s radar is the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Vessel of Hatred is the first major piece of up-to-date content for the game since its launch last year, and Blizzard is inviting players to get a taste of Diablo 4 ahead of the expansion’s launch.

Diablo 4’s latest free trial weekend is now live on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Battle.net (though not Steam). The trial lets you download the full game, but you can only level up your characters to level 20. Any character creation progress you make will, of course, still be available if you buy the full version.
Speaking of which, Blizzard has made it effortless for us to make that decision by offering the game with a 40% discount until the end of the trial period, which ends on Monday, September 23.
While the timing of this trial makes sense, it can be a bit awkward for up-to-date players. The game’s leveling experience and World Tier systems are coming soon, so anyone who picks up Diablo 4 for the first time this weekend will feel like a whiplash, whether they continue playing until the expansion’s release or take a break and pick up where they left off.
Still, 20 levels isn’t much in terms of progression, so it shouldn’t be a huge hurdle. While the cap is low, the window should be more than enough to get a feel for the game’s mechanics, especially since you can play on different consoles and create different characters to try out different classes.
Vessel of Hatred will launch alongside Season 6 on October 8 for all platforms. The expansion requires a copy of the base Diablo 4 game to play, though the Season 6 patch will bring major changes and additions that will benefit everyone. If Down spend the money to purchase it, and you’ll get to play as the up-to-date Spiritborn class, a up-to-date zone to explore, a up-to-date Runewords feature, not to mention continue the game’s story.
