The Razer Kuromi Collaboration, previously only available in China, is now available in the US, in response to popular demand. What’s more, you can outfit almost your entire gaming setup with equipment reminiscent of Sanrio’s jester bunny. What… you thought Kuromi was a cat this whole time?
Shocking revelations aside, this collaboration now offers even more appropriate black and purple peripherals. Full range includes the appropriately themed Enki X gaming chair, the Ornata V3 keyless keyboard, the DeathAdder Essential mouse and mousepad set, and the striking Leviathan V2 : there is even Kuromi’s appropriately pointy headset.
This is far from Razer’s first connection with Sanrio. Known for their ostentatious peripherals – namely the Kraken Kitty headsets, which offer a ton of experience in every respect – Razer also offers a wealth of distinctive, non-standard look of mouse pads and phone casesplus plenty pink gear in memory of everyone’s favorite youthful Londoner. Wait, you thought Hello Kitty was a cat this whole time?
Don’t look at me like that-Sanrio has been very clear on this point. And as befits a teenager receiving a hefty monthly salary, the Razer X Kuromi collaboration also costs quite a lot. For starters, the Kuromi edition of the Kraken Kitty V2 headset costs $30 more than the decidedly custom Quartz colorway, bringing the total to $130. You will need really deep pockets to complete the set.
To be fair, I’m not a fan of the “only black or pink and only pink” hardware color dichotomy, so the pop of purple is definitely welcome. What’s more, I don’t like the default shape of the Kraken Kitty V2 cat ears – they are both too pointed and, paradoxically, too round for me. The jester’s ears are so unusual and striking that I can already feel the glow of my debit drilling holes in the back of my head.
Still, as a Sanrio fan not particularly based in the US, my money is sheltered for now – but I do hope that Razer may one day take steps to plan a little tour of Europe as part of the Kuromi collaboration. If this doesn’t work out, fingers crossed we’ll at least see them sooner China-exclusive Gengar equipment sooner or later they will also become available in the USA.
Meanwhile, US PC gamers can purchase the Razer Kuromi gaming chair, headset, mouse, mousepad and soundbar now, ahead of the earliest premium delivery on January 24.
