Invincible fans may think they know what’s going to happen in Season 3 based on what happens in the comics, but it looks like they won’t know everything.
So far, the animated adaptation of Invincible has been pretty much identical to what happens in the comics. However, according to comic book co-creator and series creator Robert Kirkman, we shouldn’t have too high expectations for what will happen in the upcoming third season of the show. During his panel at San Diego Comic-Con (via poppers), in response to a fan’s question about Season 3, Kirkman said, “Do you, uh, assume you know what’s going to happen next season based on your knowledge of the comic book series? Sometimes you’re going to be very wrong. Sometimes you’re going to be a little surprised, sometimes you’re going to be disappointed. Mostly you’re going to be delighted.”

During Comic-Con, we got our first look at the titular Invincible’s fresh costume, a blue and black number that shows Mark entering a fresh era as a superhero. “He definitely won’t be scratched or covered in blood…” he says. sarcastic caption from the official Invincible Twitter account.
Not much is known about Season 3 at this point, most notably the lack of a specific release date. The first half of Season 2 aired in 2023, with the second half wrapping up in 2024, which wasn’t particularly popular with fans, although Kirkman knows it wasn’t particularly popular.
It was also announced during Comic-Con that the series had been renewed for Season 4, but considering Season 3 won’t be out until next year at the earliest, I certainly wouldn’t expect it to premiere for quite some time.
At least Kirkman spent a lot of time on the panel Season 3 overclockingsaying, “Every episode has something big, every episode has a huge ending, every episode has some huge character development or plot twist. I can’t wait to finally see Season 3 because it’s going to be crazy.” Sounds like you have a lot to be cheerful about!
