‘These claims are not exact’: Activision denies complete rethink of Call of Duty after tardy sales of Black Ops 7

Published:

While it’s expected that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will remain one of the best-selling games of the year, everything indicates that its results fall well miniature of the series’ standards.

This prompted the eminent spying on the franchise Spirit of Hope make surprising revelations on social media this week.

As part of a long post on the topic X (Or Twitter), stated that the financial results of the latest game are significantly “below expectations”, which were already lowered last year after Black Ops 6 allegedly “fell off a cliff”.

The tease added that Microsoft – which acquired Activision in an unprecedented $69 billion buyout – wants a “smoother revenue stream and reduced expenses,” which it believes the company could try to achieve through “studio mergers and a complete rethink of monetization models.”

But when he received this information from Charlie Intelsenior Activision and Xbox representatives responded that both teams “are completely united in investing in the future of Call of Duty and innovating for the community.”

Sources apparently added that Ghost of Hopes’ claims “are not accurate.”

This prompted the informant to take action reply to message with a sequence of laughing emojis, suggesting that he stands by his report. Asked if he had a source for his claimshe said confidently, “Quite a lot.”

Whoever’s telling the truth here, it’s clear that Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be something of a disaster by Call of Duty standards.

The game is not only 67 Metacritical and an even worse user rating of 1.6, but Activision recently issued an unprecedented statement admitting that the franchise “has not recently met your expectations.”

As part of this message, the company stated that it would never release further sub-series again and that it intended to go “over the limit” in the future.

The problem is that Call of Duty faced stiff competition this year from Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders, and will face even bigger GTA 6 next year.

We will also add that the marketing of the series seemed to be much weaker since Sony stopped paying its bills, and Xbox Game Pass also affected sales of the title at full price.

So for recent Microsoft owners, navigating this space clearly involves some real turbulence, and it will be fascinating to see how everything plays out.
