Warning: the following contains spoilers for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

I saw it, so now you have to. There’s an Elden Ring mod now that swaps out Shadow of the Erdtree’s huge bad final boss, Promised Consort Radahn, for a giant version of Patches that piggybacks on FromSoft bossman Hidetaka Miyazaki. Because of course there is.

Yes, you may have seen this fairly complex fight defeated with a saxophone or on a dance mat, but bro, the weeds of Elden Ring DLC weirdness already run much deeper than these wacky antics. This isn’t the first time someone has decided to go meta and add Miyazaki to one of their games as a character, but this might be the funniest yet.

Without further ado, here’s the mod. It’s MRRCrychicQing’s ‘Patches – Miyazaki’s Wife‘, and it does exactly what you’d expect from something with that name. Gone is the Promised Consort, the huge bad guy who provides the final challenge in the DLC, and in his place is a giant version of Patches with the same moveset.

Then, during the fight, the uber-Patches gains a companion/backpack in the form of Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, doing his best imitation of Miquella. The legendary creator even wears a fancy suit, as the mod uses the same model as another work that added Miyazaki to Sekiro as a player characterThis time though, you have to fight him, which is probably more in line with the whole FromSoft ethos.

As you can see in the video above, recorded by someone who clearly needs to activate Windows correctly and showing the entire fight against two phases of Patches, Miyazaki’s promised spouse, the modder even made a slight, tasteful edit to the subtitles of the battle dialogue to fit this terrifying novel reality.

While swapping Radahn and Miquella’s names for Patches and Miyazaki is a nice touch, the first line you say upon entering the arena is basically a chef’s kiss, “My loyal blade. And the master who pre-ordered the DLC.” Also, when the boss’s health bar is reduced to near zero, Miyazaquella promises you, “A new game is coming out next month, and there’s still 22 Elden Ring DLCs to go.”

Finally, the mod replaces the meteorites from that infamous OP attack with some indigent basilisks that probably have no idea what’s going on, and on top of that it appears to turn the arena floor into a poisonous swamp, simply because it can, and in the latter case, to make Miyazaki feel at home.
