The worst maps in Black Ops 6, ranked

Published:

Unlike previous titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched with a completely novel set of maps rather than reusing the elderly ones, but unfortunately not all of them hit the mark. These are the worst maps in the game Black Ops 6.

Ranking of the worst maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Black Ops 6 was released with a huge selection of 14 unique maps, which is quite modest for A Call of Duty title. However, not all maps were created equally, and of those 14, some are, shall we say, not as appetizing to play as others.

Red card

Starting with the absolute the worst in-game map, Red Card is a really nippy concept on paper, but it’s terrible in-game. Not only is it on the larger side of the spectrum (meaning a lot more running and less shooting), but it has quite a few major issues that impact the smoothness of the game regardless of the game mode you’re playing on.

My biggest gripe is the stadium section of the map. Despite being able to move around the entire area, most of them are oddly out of bounds, leading to some really frustrating situations where you might think aggressive action would be beneficial, but are demanding to stop with the out-of-bounds warning in the middle of the screen. This is followed by a corridor of death, where one team is in an elevated, advantageous position and the other team must fight their way through a narrow corridor leading to that position. Everyone loves chokepoints, right?

Vault

Even though Vault is right next to Red Card on this list, please know that I consider it a Red Card much worse than Vault in every respect. That said, Vault is still on the list due to its size. This is certainly a map where the game mode you play on makes a huge difference.

Overall, playing in an objective mode like Domination or Hardpoint makes Vault a reasonable experience (though still not great). However, the moment Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmation occurs, the map falls to pieces, leading to truly random spawns and unpredictable encounters.

Lower Town

In the middle of the worst maps Black Ops 6 there’s Lowtown, a map that, like Vault, plays much better in objective game modes. The Lower Town is a map that sometimes resembles a maze. At this point I’ve played this map dozens of times and it still feels like there are places on it that I’ve never even seen due to its size, especially on the outskirts. Then there’s the water aspect, which includes tunnels that you can swim through and circle around to flank enemies. This is definitely one of the more confusing maps on the list.

As I mentioned, Lowtown’s biggest problem is the game mode you’re in. Domination works quite well on him, but point B is extremely tough to capture due to the petite amount of cover and huge fields of view around it. Often, if a team is entrenched, it becomes extremely tough to break through. This is a minor issue, however, as there are multiple flanking lanes on this map that allow you to attempt this as well as reach other points. However, in non-objective modes, this map is downright terrible to play for similar reasons to Vault.

Vorkuta

You may be starting to notice a trend in this list. Vorkuta isn’t a terrible map if you play it in objective game mode. I would argue that he plays very well with his goals in mind. It’s massive, but not so massive that the stripes get blurry. It also has long sight lines, allowing you to play well in any way. It’s on this list because the moment the goal becomes “kill the enemy” its flow falls apart.

It’s a huge map with lots of random spawning spots. In Vorkuta, you may find yourself getting shot in the back a lot, as some spawn locations simply allow the enemy to do this easily. The spawn points on this map are the main reason it’s on my list. I think they are generally terrible, but manageable if you keep the goal in mind.

SCUD

The last map on this list, SCUD, suffers from the same problems as Vorkuta, except that in my opinion they are not as bad. You will often appear behind enemy lines, which often leads to you being shot in the back. It’s annoying. When this happens, it’s tough. With SCUD this is not as common, but it does occur. Also, like every other map on this list, this map plays much better with a specific goal in mind rather than just mindless Team Deathmatch.

My biggest issue with this map is how sniper affable it is. I would argue that this is the most snipe-friendly map on this list because there are literally sniper nests built into the map. Now don’t get it wrong. I completely understand that there are a lot of counter-sniper options in Black Ops 6. However, I am the type of player who prefers not to deal with them if I can facilitate it. That said, I like sniping in objective modes here because it often means the other team won’t get the objective. This map is huge enough for snipers to sit in their nests and shoot without reaching the actual target, which is an advantage as long as it’s on the other team.
