The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now has an amazing 60 million copies, CD Projekt announced as part of the latest financial report.
The number 60 million includes the sale of the basic game and the Gothic version, but excludes expansion sold separately.
It is close to overtaking the latest number of sales for The Bethesda The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. IN June 2023 Interview with IGNTodd Howard, head of the development of Bethesda, said Skyrim sold over 60 million copies. So we now have a potential draw for the best -selling game of playing the roles of all time.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt began in May 2015, and recently celebrated the 10th anniversary. Here is Adam Badowski, joint director of CD Projekt, on the Sales -visher 3 milestone:
Undoubtedly, the third part of Geralt’s adventures is a key point in our history. The game won hundreds of awards and recorded the position of our studio, but more importantly, it brought millions of games around the world. I am proud to announce that since its release, The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies, providing a place among video bestsellers in the whole story and motivating us to continue intensive work on the next trilogy in this universe.
This is a reference to The Witcher 4, which is currently in full production. 422 of 730 programmers in CD Projekt is working on a continuation, which will not be released by 2027 at the earliest.
Last week, Doug Cockle, Geralt’s voice, came to criticism Witcher 4 Focusing on Ciri, he told so-called franchise fans to “read these damn books.”
“It’s just stupid,” said Cockle of Muza against Witcher 4, he caused Ciri as a hero for the first time.
Speaking only to Ign before revealing a witch 4Executive producer Małgorzata Mitęga said that Ciri is “a very organic, logical choice.”
“It was always about her, starting with the saga when you read her in books. She is an amazing, layered figure. And of course, as a hero, we said goodbye to Geralt before. So it’s a continuation. I think that for all of us it is as if it was supposed to be. It was always her.”
And in February Director Witcher 4 explained that the up-to-date film contained the same Ciri model in the game after some thought her face was looking different.
