Korean publisher Neowiz showed its commitment to intriguing ideas with the excellent Lies of P and has just signed a contract with the Polish start-up Zakazane to publish a modern western single-player RPG.

The game is set in a remote mining town, where you play the role of a sheriff whose task is to solve a case that may disturb the local community. Former employees of CD Projekt RED and 11 Bit Studios are working on it, among others.

CEO and founder Jan Barkowicz said: “We had a great understanding of our vision with Neowiz, who were excited about our debut title the moment we showed them the demo. In the conversations that followed, they never tried to dissuade us from our principles, but rather made sure we stuck to our principles. “It’s clear that both sides understand that games can become important to people on a personal level, making them both valuable cultural works and good business.”

Seung-Cheol Kim of Neowiz added: “When we first met Zakaz, we immediately felt a connection with their passion for creating projects that deeply captivate viewers. Their upcoming neo-Western RPG will be a key addition to our portfolio and reflects our ambition to build lasting franchises on PC and consoles. Together we will create a brand that combines quality and storytelling so that players can value it for many years.

Of course, it’s still very early stages, and only one piece of embedded graphics has been made publicly available so far. Conceptually, though, it sounds great, and we can’t wait to see how it develops in the coming years. This will certainly be an item worth paying attention to.
