If you can’t wake up in the morning without a steaming mug of boomer shooters, here comes a sizzling novel one. GRAVELORD The early access period for “unfiltered, hardcore carnage” begins on January 22.

Developer Fatbot Games has some pretty great early access content lined up. There will be a full episode of eight levels, along with a repeatable bonus level. There are also plans for an integrated level editor, but it looks like we’ll have to wait for the full release to try out our own designs.

For a quick taste TrembleAction in the style of a talkative hero. Below is a low but action-packed trailer with the release date.

Fatbot commits to distinction in the boomer shooter category (and the slogan “Let’s bring the fun back to the funeral”). GRAVELORD it looks appropriately fast-paced, with mystery-filled levels that give players something to chew on when they’re not blowing up enemies in quick succession.

In addition to customary FPS gameplay, GRAVELORD features collectible tarot cards that can escalate combat options and strength, as well as weapons that can be upgraded with different fire modes. I’m less thrilled with the “bad hero”, Queedo the Gravedigger. Queedo is advertised as “dumb as hell but strong as an ox”, which is a great advantage in a game like this. He also “has his own opinion” and comments on what is happening on the screen with his Cockney accent. Let’s hope this ends up being comical and without the need for pejorative quotes.

If you can’t wait until the end of this month, you can see more GRAVELORD this is about the demo version live now on Steam.
