Waiting for Spider-Man 2 on PC is coming to an end. An exclusive PlayStation 5 game about the duel between Peter Parker and Venom will appear on Steam in January next year. Unfortunately, you will still need to log in to PSN.
Sony has announced its latest PC port during New York Comic Con 2024. Originally released on PS5 in October 2023. Marvel Spider-Man 2 will be available to play on Steam from January 30, 2025. That’s a period of just 15 months, showing that the lag time between the launch of Sony’s first-party titles on PS5 and their subsequent arrival on PC may be shortening as the company tries to find a larger audience for costly cinema hits.
However, Spider-Man 2 on PC will continue the controversial trend where PlayStation games still require a PSN login on Steam, even if they are offline and running in single-player mode. God of War Ragnarokwhich released on PC last month, garnered tons of negative reviews on Steam as objection to login requirement which first became a major flashpoint earlier this year when Helldivers 2 exploded in popularity.
Come January, Spider-Man 2 will join the first game and Miles Morales spin-off that released on PC last year. Spider-Man 2 it’s bigger and prettier in every way, though its greater scope doesn’t always translate into a more impactful story or more captivating open-world exploration. However, she has some top-notch side quests and will no doubt benefit from the many player mods fans will create for her. Nixxes Software is working on the port, and the same studio is preparing for release Remastered Horizon Zero Dawn.
Insomniac Games currently has a ton of other Marvel games in the works, including Wolverine which is scheduled to start next year and will probably consist of many parts Spider-Man 3 and plans for X-Men games as part of an ongoing licensing agreement with Disney. These unannounced projects were revealed last year as part of malicious hack private studio information.
