The premiere of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been postponed to early 2026

Perhaps hoping to bury the bad news behind the GTA 6 delay, Skydance Games announced that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed beyond its early 2026 window, with no modern date or release window.

Is there a technical term in the classic apology text image announcement? – – writes the team: :

“At Skydance Games, our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and worlds we are fortunate to work with. MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to delivering the level of quality our team, players and fans have come to expect.”

“To fully realize our vision for MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra, we have made the decision to extend the release window beyond early 2026.

“We are grateful for the passion and support of the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something truly special and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”

This is another significant failure for Amy Hennig’s superhero game. Announced in March of last year, after initial teasers in 2021, the initial target was for a 2025 release… but aside from a cinematic trailer revealed last summer, we haven’t heard or seen much about the game.

You just have to hope they weren’t planning a November 2026 release, because… that would be a bit awkward now, wouldn’t it?

Taking the superhero fight back to World War II, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will feature four playable characters, with perspectives alternating between Captain America, Black Panther, Nanali and Gabriel Jones. This will also provide other gameplay aspects, with Nanali likely to have much more stealth and spying compared to other characters.

The game’s cast includes Khary Payton as Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the Black Panther in the game’s timeline, Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, a Wakandan spy, Marque Richardson lends her voice to Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, Lyne Renée voices Julie, a member of the French movement resistance, and Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s father, is voiced by Joel Johnstone.
