The Poppy Playtime collaboration in Minecraft is the best crossover this Halloween

Published:

Poppy fun is one of the best horror games to come out in years. I’ve been a fan since day one, getting further and further into the factory with each chapter. Well, despite their recent very high-profile collaboration, Mob Entertainment isn’t content making Poppy It’s time to play Minecraft cooperation has become a reality.

I thought I had already lucked out with the Fortnite Poppy Playtime partnership, but the Minecraft partnership seems to be even more extensive because it’s not just Poppy Playtime’s Huggy Wuggy that appears here. Thanks to a partnership with Spark Universe, a studio known for creating add-ons for Mojang’s epic sandbox game, many of Poppy Playtime’s iconic toys (at least the ones that want to kill you) are available through the Minecraft Huggy & Friends add-on.

That’s right, we’re talking about Mommy Long Legs, CatNap, Doey, and Doc from Poppy Playtime, and each of them has their own encounters as the add-on turns Minecraft into a playground for everyone to roam around. In fact, Wugster is constantly chasing you, Mommy Long Legs is playing games you don’t want to be a part of (I still can’t get over how he sets up the Statues and I have the nerve to call me a cheater), CatNap is haunting you with his dreamy presence, and Dr. Poppy Playtime is making the most of surveillance to keep an eye on you.

As for Doey from Poppy Playtime, those of you familiar with the events of Chapter 4 will probably guess what he’s doing in Minecraft; this story may be your friend, but in a moment it can turn against you. Luckily, you also have access to the GrabPack, which unlocks up-to-date abilities after beating each terrifying encounter. Who needs Spider-Man games when you can swing with GrabPack in this blocky world?

While it sounds intimidating having to face all of these threats in one experience, especially since they all seem to be using their specialties to kill you, you’re not alone. To this day, the Smiling Creatures from Poppy Playtime are my favorite group of toys, with the exception of CatNap from Poppy Playtime, and it looks like they join Kissy Missy from Poppy Playtime as your allies. If you encounter a smiling creature, be grateful as it will fight alongside you and even offer unique benefits through various effects. I can’t wait to see what they all do, knowing they have different personalities and scents.

“This collaboration provides the best of both worlds. Thrilling Poppy Playtime experiences combined with the limitless creativity of Minecraft,” says Mob Entertainment CEO and co-founder Zach Belanger. “We are excited to see fans discover, experience and role-play with these characters in completely new ways.”

I have to admit, I didn’t think these Poppy Playtime characters could look any scarier or more intimidating, but there’s something about Fortnite’s art style that makes them even scarier. Huggy Wuggy and the Doctor in particular seem more spooky, although Mommy Long Legs doesn’t look much different from her regular character in Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime. Make sure you take a friend along for this experience; you can exploit them as a shield if nothing else.

The Huggy & Friends Minecraft expansion costs 990 Minecoins, the virtual currency you exploit to make purchases in Minecraft, which means you only have to pay $5.99 to have the pleasure of seeing if you can survive against these furious toys. If you ask me, this seems like a good value because it costs less than a Big Mac meal at McDonald’s and you can play it as many times as you want, but you can only eat this burger once.

The wait for news about Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 seems like an eternity; I’m still thinking about the ending of Safe Haven and what it means for the next installment. So, Mob, if you’re reading this, put a girl out of her misery and give her something.
