The Pokémon TCG Pocket Mass Outbreak Event is a great opportunity to strengthen your Fire-type collection

Published:

Right after the events of Meowth and Chansey Wonder Pick, Pocket Pokémon TCG created a recent reason to open your phone in the constant pursuit of more digital cards. The Fire Pokémon Mass Outbreak event doesn’t provide any recent challenges for a single player to overcome, so don’t worry about assembling the Misty deck you’ve been meaning to build. Instead, this one specifically rewards those who like to check out Wonder Pick options throughout the day.

Here’s how the Fire Pokémon Mass Outbreak event works: From now until November 28, a special “Bonus Pick” option will appear in the Miracle Pick menu. This will allow you to randomly select one of five Fire-type cards for free, so you should always choose a bonus every time you see one. These may appear several times a day, so be sure to check your Wonders when you decide to play. At the same time, you will occasionally see a “Rare Picks” pop-up in the Wonder Picks menu, which will feature a correspondingly rarer selection of cards. Rare types cost miraculous stamina that takes 36 hours to naturally regenerate.

Let’s take a look at what exactly you’ll get here:

All cards you can get with bonus picks

The pool of cards that can appear as bonus picks is as follows:

Charmander

Charmeleon

Vulpix

Ninetales

Ponyta

Rapidash

Growlithe

Magmara

Heatmor

Blaine

Again, the bonus picks are literally free, so even if all the cards are terrible, they’re still worth grabbing. That said, the evolution lines of Charmander, Vulpix, and Ponyta can aid improve your Fire deck, especially if you can combine them with Blaine’s Trainer card. Nine-Tails with an additional 30 damage from Blaine can KO Pikachu EX in one hit!

In the meantime, here’s what the occasional pick pool looks like

Arkanine EX

Charizard

Moltres

Ninetales

Rapidash

Charmeleon

Blaine

Are occasional types worth the miraculous durability?

Admittedly, the value perspective here is arduous. Charizard EX is one of the best cards in the gamebut it is NO on sale. Arcanine EX is the rarest pick here, but it’s not exactly a “meta” card. 120 damage for three energy can counter the Pikachu EX cards that constantly show up in online matches, so you definitely shouldn’t write this off. That said, you have no actual guarantee that you’ll catch one, given how Wonder Picks works, so you’ll have to weigh whether the risk is worth the reward. You can get a Miraculous Hourglass and a Shop Ticket by pulling out Arcanine EX during the event, but that’s more of a nice addition than a reason to specifically chase the card.

Fortunately, unlike most regular Miracles, the consolation prizes here are pretty good. As mentioned above, Ninetales and Rapidash can be deadly when paired with Blaine. You will need Charmeleon if you want to build everyone Charizard deck. And if you don’t have Charizard or Moltres yet, this is a good opportunity to add to your collection.

Is it worth ditching all your stored Wonder Hourglasses for Rare Picks as soon as you see them? Well, if you don’t have any of these cards in your collection, you probably don’t need chase them mercilessly. But is this a good way to employ up the Miracle Stamina you’ve already accumulated and want to spend? Definitely, as long as you don’t get sidetracked by seeing all the cards you wanted to flip later.
