The next Nintendo Direct is tomorrow – here’s where and how to watch

Published:

It’s finally that time of year again; The next Nintendo Direct will officially take place tomorrow, June 18.

The news was announced on Official Nintendo X/Twitter Channel, and the Nintendo Direct will stream at 7am PT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST. As always, you will be able to watch it live Official Nintendo YouTube channels at the time of transmission.

This Nintendo Direct, as usual, will last approximately 40 minutes and will focus exclusively on Nintendo Switch games that will debut in the second half of 2024. Nintendo also notes that “there will be no mention of a Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.”

This echoes comments made by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa last month. Furukawa then noticed via X/Twitter that while Nintendo’s next console won’t be unveiled during June’s Nintendo Direct, it assures that official information will be revealed “sometime this fiscal year.”

This should be quite an fascinating Nintendo Direct, as we don’t really have many ideas as to what the company has in store for the second half of the year on the Nintendo Switch. Most of the most anticipated and best Nintendo Switch games are now available. Perhaps the last major anomaly is Metroid Prime 4, which, at this point, could very well transition to the (tentatively named) Nintendo Switch 2 console.

This leaves the field open to some pleasant surprises, I hope. I imagine there will probably be one or two novel remakes and the usual bit of quality third-party and indie support to fill the gaps in between. Still, with the Switch already at the end of its lifecycle, expectations should be low as we prepare for the next console next year.
