Activision has reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to the creators of H2M Mod. The highly anticipated mod for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered focused on recreating and remastering the online multiplayer mode Modern War 2 for PC gamers.
CoD4: MW Remastered launched in 2016 and featured the original campaign, as well as a remastered version of the game’s beloved multiplayer mode. But when Modern Warfare 2 Remastered arrived in 2020, featured only a campaign and no online multiplayer. For many players, this was extremely disappointing, as MW2′Online multiplayer is considered by many to be Cod fans to be the best in the history of the series. So some fan modders decided to recreate MW2online actions and maps using CoD4: MW Remastered. And this mod, H2M, was supposed to come out really soon. But then Activision supposedly stepped in and killed it.
On August 15, the creators of the game H2M announced on Twitter that they received a cease and desist letter from Activision and that they intend to shut down the mod “immediately.”
“Today, members of our team received a cease and desist order on behalf of Activision Publishing regarding the H2M-Mod project,” the developers wrote on Thursday. “We are complying with this order and will be shutting down all operations immediately and permanently.”
My city reached out to Activision for comment.
H2M Mod was planned to include over 50 maps, the full version MW2 progression system, novel perks, weapon camouflages and original kill streaks known from the classic FPS game.
