Mortal Kombat 1upcoming expansion Chaos rules will feature a reimagining of Sektor, thanks to the Fire God Liu Kang’s interference in the timeline. She’s still a Lin Kuei devotee and now very closely tied to Sub-Zero, but less of a classic cyborg and more of an armored warrior. And as the first gameplay trailer reveals, Sektor is essentially Iron Man, only much more sadistic, as is typical for Mortal Kombat characters.
Iron Man’s influence is especially noticeable in the first Fatality Sektor, in which he literally throws his opponent Ermac into space, freezing him, and then rockets him back to Earth, where he burns to ash as he enters the atmosphere. Sektor and what’s left of Ermac land with a crater-shattering bang as she lands.
If anyone doubts we’re dealing with an Iron Man-esque character here, Sektor’s take on the MCU-style HUD from Fatality clearly shows where developer NetherRealm Studios borrowed some of its ideas from.
Tony Starking turning enemies into smoked paste isn’t Sektor’s only finishing move. Her newly revealed Animality allows her to transform into a rhinoceros and then shred an opponent with its giant horn. This is a change from Sektor’s original Animality in Mortal Kombat 3in which the cyborg transformed into a glowing bat and cut off the head of his opponent. (Kabal, by the way, transformed into a rhinoceros skeleton IN MK3.)
