You may remember that the recent Death Note game was recently reviewed, with many people wondering how the manga masterpiece would be adapted. There have been several visual novels for the Nintendo DS, and many anticipated publisher Bandai Namco could create a recent one. Instead, the 10-player social deduction option was chosen – in other words, it’s Among Us: Anime Edition.
“The key to this game is the Death Note, because the person whose name is written on this note will die,” explains brand manager Duy Pham in quite a dramatic way. “But be careful, this deadly note lies hidden between you and other players, setting the stage for an exciting game full of strategy and deception. Play as Kira and rate other players using the Death Note, or play as L and collect clues to arrest the killer. Get ready to discover the truth and outsmart your opponents to win.”
At the beginning of each game you will have to choose one of four roles: Kira, Kira Follower, L or Researcher. You will be divided into two teams, depending on your role, with one team tasked with eliminating L and the other team tasked with arresting Kira. Much like Among Us, the first phase of each game will have you collecting clues and completing tasks, then meeting to discuss who’s behaving suspiciously.
There’s quite a lot going on here, and if you’re looking for a more in-depth look at the gameplay, we recommend checking out Blog PS post with detailed information. But perhaps the most vital thing you’ll want to know is that the game will be released on PS5 and PS4 on November 5 – and will be available from day one as part of Essential PS Plus.
