The Lovestruck expansion for The Sims 4 adds a dating app and outdoor woohoo

The Sims 4 continues its efforts to represent all the worst aspects of contemporary life. The latest addition added predatory landlords and mold-riddled apartments. Another expansion will add the ability to create dating app profiles for your sims. It’s called Lovestruck and will be released on July 25.

Lovestruck adds a Cupid’s Corner app where players can create a profile for their sim, specify what kind of partner they are looking for, and then choose the type of date. How successful a date is will depend on what sims like and dislike, which determines the types of interests and interactions they are looking for in a potential romantic partner.

These dates can take place in a modern city that has three neighborhoods designed with romance in mind. There’s also a modern “Romance Consultant” career path, which I assume is reminiscent of a Hitch movie rather than something more euphymous. Although there’s also a modern “Romantic Blanket” available that sims can apparently take with them if they decide to play outdoors, so who knows.

As an expansion pack, Lovestruck adds modern systems, such as modern ways of dating and modern relationship meters, as well as modern outfits and items to decorate your home with. These are the largest of the various types of DLC for The Sims – more substantial than Game Packs and with modern systems, as opposed to Stuff Packs or Kits – and their size is reflected in the price, which is £35/$40.

If that’s not too high a price to pay for love, the expansion will be released on July 25.
