The long-rumored Fortnite Simpsons mini-season seems imminent as Kang and Kodos appear in the game

Fortnite fans are convinced that the game will soon feature a mini-season dedicated to The Simpsons, following the appearance of Kang and Kodos in the game.

Rumors of a Simpsons-themed mini-season in the works have been circulating all year long, with speculation further fueled by the fact that the recent Star Wars mini-season was labeled “Chapter 6: Mini-Season 1.” Since Fortnite chapters (essentially the game’s annual eras) typically last 12 months, fans believe that Mini-Season 2 will likely arrive at some point before the chapter’s expected end in December.

And now, as Fortnite kicks off its large Halloween celebrations, a glider featuring The Simpsons alien duo Kang and Kodos has been spotted in the game, and its description even references a dedicated battle pass.

This glider marks the first time a “Simpsons” character has appeared in Fortnite, which has worked with almost every major Disney property to date (including characters from Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, Avatar and other Fox-owned franchises like Family Guy).

According to reports, Kang and Kodos will be a reward for free quests handed out to players in the near future – possibly as a teaser for the upcoming The Simpsons extravaganza and perhaps a nod to the show’s annual Halloween celebration, Treehouse of Horror.

The Simpsons itself recently kicked off its 37th season with an episode in which Marge reminisces about the ’90s and Homer reflects on the pace at which movies are hitting streaming platforms. As the season began, “The Simpsons” co-showrunner Matt Selman said the show’s creators didn’t want the show to become more topical “because the subject matter is so chaotic and crazy.”

Fortnite fans have high hopes for a potential Fortnite-The Simpsons crossover, which will likely arrive around the same end-of-year period that previously saw the game temporarily return to the OG Chapter 1 map (in 2023), followed by a Snoop Dogg/Eminem-style remixed version of the Chapter 2 map (in 2024).

Could The Simpsons be used as a twist and a throwback to the Fortnite era in Chapter 3, or are players heading towards an entirely modern map themed around Springfield? For now, Fortnite is busy rolling out its busiest Fortnitemares yet, featuring collaborations with Wednesday, the Scooby-Doo Gang, and Scream’s Ghostface.

However, yesterday’s Fortnitemares reveal didn’t go entirely to plan as rap star Doja Cat broke kayfabe by criticizing the posting of a message that was meant to appear to be written by her and that referenced a sex toy.
