Nintendo has shared another lengthy trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, this time focusing on the spooky Still World and Link-style combat.
This trailer lasts about five minutes and features the purple void shown in the Echoes of Wisdom trailer, where Zelda’s father, the King of Hyrule, and regular protagonist Link are trapped. This place is called the Still World, and players must navigate it as Zelda in order to save Hyrule.
The levels here see Zelda traversing broken lands floating in space and exploring more perilous dungeons. There are usually nasty bosses at the end, and the trailer shows Zelda fighting them in various ways using her Echoes, which are recreations of objects and creatures encountered during the adventure. There are a ton of different biomes to explore in Still World, including lava zones, underwater areas, and more.
Zelda also has access to something called the Sword Fighter Form, which essentially turns her into the regular The Legend of Zelda protagonist, Link. She can only enter this form for a compact time, but once she does, she dons a sword and shield, and even a little hat.
The trailer also shows someone named Dampè, a resident of Hyrule who creates mechanical gadgets called automatons. These metal beasts can be summoned by Zelda and used in combat and many other situations in the game.
Echoes of Wisdom was revealed on June 18, 2024, with a release date set just a few months later on September 26. The game features entirely recent gameplay styles that utilize Zelda’s abilities and promises huge levels of variation between gameplay experiences.
Fans were quick to wonder when and where in the Zelda timeline the action takes place, but fan theories reached recent heights when the ESRB rating for Echoes of Wisdom revealed that Link is a playable character after all.
In early August, Nintendo released another lengthy trailer focusing on the world of Hyrule and how players will navigate it.
